Zulali

Directed by Hayk Ordyan | Armenia 2021 | 90 min | Italian Premiere| Language: Armenian with Italian subtitles

The story follows lives in a small village in a picturesque Armenian gorge where secrets, tragedy and love are intricately woven together to form a beautiful impressionist painting of life. And as often in life, the drama is contaminated with humor and compassion.

This life in rural areas is hard, and villagers survive by trading in the market, cultivating the land when possible, and relying on each other. Zulali, a mentally ill young woman; Nazaros, a 10-year-old boy who is too smart for his age; and Aqir, an elderly woman who was kicked out of her own family because she was barren, form an unlikely family.

As each of them recounts their perceptions, the deeply hidden secrets and terrible tragedies that bind them together are gradually revealed to unravel the complex mosaic of their fate
