Who We Are
CineSalento is a cultural non-profit organization born in 2004 under the direction of Luigi Campanile, with the principal objective of promoting the territory of Salento through cinema, one of the most powerful forms of communication and cultural and popular ties. This objective is reached via a vast series of activities that CineSalento manages. Among the more prominent are: The organisation of cinematic events: the SALENTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, which takes place in September in Tricase and has become a traditional event in the area, the SALENTO FEAR FEST (cinematic review of the horror genre) is unique in Puglia. Furthermore CineSalento is involved in the production and distribution of films of high quality.
Luigi Campanile (Executive Director) Was born and raised in Tricase, a small town in southern Puglia(Italy). As a young man he moves to Rome to pursue a career in photography graduating as Director of Photography and starting soon a brilliant career. He collaborates with some of the most prestigious Photo Agencies in the country till the end of the 90’ when he moves to New York first and then Los Angeles where he currently lives. In 1997 with a life changing decision he launches and directs the magazine La Dolce Vita, a bilingual monthly issue that has become a point of reference for Italian Culture in L.A. Year 1998 sees the birth of LAIFA- the first Italian Film Awards in L.A.Luigi is the founder and director of the prestigious event that has been running successfully for many years since, promoting the Italian Cinema in the USA. In 2004 his love for cinema and for his country of origin brings him to create and direct the Cinesalento Association and the Salento International Film Festival, both based in Tricase (Lecce) and aiming at promoting the Salento region as a focus point for international events. He is also involved in the production and distribution of Independent Movies.
Patrizia Scarascia (Production Manager) Patrizia was born and raised in Switzerland from Italian parents. Later the family moves back to Tricase (Puglia, Italy)to reunite with their roots.Patrizia shows from a young age a passion for languages and travelling and she will pursue both with her studies and career. She graduates in Foreign Language and Literature and starts working for large International Tour Operators in London where she still lives. She furthers her education with masters in Business English and Marketing for the Travel Industry while working in the Travel Business in different roles and responsibilities from budgeting to contracting to management. She has recently joined the Cinesalento team in the capacity of Production Manager for all the various events and projects
