RULES
1. THE FESTIVAL
Art. 1 The 4th edition of the Salento International Film
Festival (SIFF) will take place from September 8 to 16, 2007 in
the city of Tricase, in Lecce. The main aim of the Festival founded
by Luigi Campanile in 2003 is a celebration of films and filmmakers,
to promote international independent films, in recognition of the
fact that movies are the most powerful form of cultural communication
and link between cultures and peoples.
Art. 2 SIFF FEST 2006 will include the following sections:
World Cinema - International Feature Competition
The World in Short - International Short-Film Competition
Italy in Short - Italian Short-Film Competition
Women Like Short International competition
of short-films directed by women
A Window on the World - International Documentary
Competition
Focus on Italy - Italian Film Showcase (Out of Competition)
Out of the Border - Film Showcase (Out of Competition)
Special Events and Tribute
Salento Award Show & Gran Gala
Art. 3 Section World Cinema - Competition
Reserved to 10/12 International films. Priority will be given to
films never shown in Italy, in other festivals or out of the European
country of origin. The films will be judged by a prestigious international
jury panel made up of five members. Based on their verdicts, the
following awards will be assigned,
Vallonea Award for Best Feature Film
Vallonea Award for Best Short-Film
Vallonea Award for Best Documentary
People's Choice Awards
Art. 4 Section SIFF - Tribute & Retrospective
SIFF 2007 pays homage to the art of one of the greatest Italian
and international actors.
Art. 5 Section SIFF - Meet the Filmmakers
6 great personalities of cinema will hold a series of cinema lessons
one each day.
Art. 6 The movies of all sections will be selected by the
Artistic Director Luigi Campanile, who will choose the dates for
the films to be screened at the Festival.
2. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Art. 7 The movies of the sections mentioned in the previous
articles will be presented in original version, possibly with English
subtitles (in case of non English-spoken films). The Italian movies
will screen with English subtitles. All costs of the selected features
pertaining to the subtitling operations into Italian will be covered
by the Festival. All the selected short-films and the documentaries
need to be subtitled in Italian and the cost will be covered by
the participants; Italian films must have English subtitles.
Art. 8 Preview tapes must arrive no later than April 15,
2007. Only VHS tapes (PAL or NTSC) and DVDs will be accepted. The
tapes must be shipped, at the sender's expenses, to:

Preview tapes and DVDs will not be returned. All costs incurred
for the dispatch of the materials are at the expense of the participants.
For customs purposes, international shipments must be marked as
'FOR CULTURAL USE ONLY - NO COMMERCIAL VALUE'. Shipments that cannot
be cleared without fees will be rejected. Cassettes and DVDs sent
to the above address must involve no expense for the recipients.
Art. 9 Applicants must fill out and return the pre-selection
entry form, which can be downloaded from the website of the Festival,
or through http://www.withoutbox.com, or can be requested via email
at the following address: info@salentofilmfestival.com. An acknowledgement
email announcing the tape or DVD delivery is highly recommended.
Art. 10 The directors of the films selected will receive
an official confirmation of the selection of the film. By signing
the official entry form, the film representatives officially communicate
their acceptance to screen their films at the Salento Int'l Film
Festival. The format accepted for the screenings is 35mm and video
Any other standard will not be accepted.
Art. 11 The following materials are requested for each film
to be included in the catalogue:
film stills (min.2)
director's picture
director's bio-filmography
short synopsis
dialogue list or subtitles list in English, if any
All enclosures must be sent by email to info@salentofilmfestival.com
for the catalogue or by ordinary mail to the official address of
the Festival, in which case the dialogue list must be sent to campanile@salentofilmfestival.com.
Art. 12 The festival is authorized to use excerpts of the
selected works (3 minutes maximum), made available by the producers,
for promotional purposes.
Art. 13 Films submitted will not be copied, modified, broadcast
or screened outside the Festival without prior consent of the producers.
Art. 14 The screening prints of the selected films must be
sent in order to arrive no later than August 20, 2007.
Art. 15 Shipping charges round-trip of the selected copies will
be paid by the participants.
Art. 16 By signing the entry form, the candidates accept
the above rules in full. Any controversy not solvable by the above
rules and regulations will be submitted to the Festival Director,
whose decision will be final and binding.
