ABOUT US

CineSalento
is a cultural non-profit organization born in 2004 under the direction of Luigi Campanile, with the principal objective of promoting the territory of Salento through cinema, one of the most powerful forms of communication and cultural and popular ties. This objective is reached via a vast series of activities that CineSalento manages. Among the more prominent are: The organisation of cinematic events: the SALENTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, which takes place in September in Tricase and has become a traditional event in the area, the SALENTO FEAR FEST (cinematic review of the horror genre) is unique in Puglia. Furthermore CineSalento is involved in the production and distribution of films of high quality.

Luigi Campanile. (Executive Director)
Born in Tricase, he started his photographic career very early. Moving to Rome he worked with many important photo-journalist agencies until the begin of the 90s. He subsequently moved to the United States, first to New York and then to Los Angeles where he now lives, he is well-known and appreciated thanks to his collaboration with some of the world’s most important magazines.

In 1997 he founded and directed “La Dolce Vita Magazine”, a bilingual monthly which has promoted Italian culture in Los Angeles. In 1998 he founded and became executive director of LAIFA – Los Angeles Italian Film Awards. In 2004 he founded and directed the Salento International Film Festival and CineSalento, with headquarters in Tricase in the province of Lecce, looking after cinematic production and distribution.

Other cinematic projects in the pipeline at Salento are: “Omar and Juliet” by the award-winning Algerian director Rachid Benhadj and the film, with the interim title “Giulia” which sees the directing debut of Daniel McVicar
